Show season is upon us!

��Show season has kicked off and long may the sun shine! ��☀️

Flowers Grown in Scotland is an association of 30 Scottish flower growers who are working together to promote the Scottish flower industry and highlight the benefits of growing and buying Scottish flowers.

With so much emphasis on meat, fruit, vegetable and drink provenance in Scotland, we think it’s only right that flowers should be recognised in the same category, after all, many don’t realise that around 88% of the flowers sold in the UK are imported from all over the world.
Flowers Grown in Scotland have unique characteristics – provenance, variety, artisanal, carbon credentials, good scent, and long shelf/vase life. Scotland can grow equally if not more beautiful flowers as the rest of the world, just with fewer air miles.

Succesful open day & AGM

Flowers Grown in Scotland held their first AGM on 23 ^rd August at Tomnah’a Market Garden, Crieff. The day was also combined with an open day the group organised aimed at Scottish cut flower growers up and down the country. We had an excellent turnout despite the rain and it was great to welcome new growers looking for inspiration and meet likeminded growers. We had several horticultural representatives from SRUC and Perth College UHI looking to collaborate with the group and we discussed some really exciting opportunities of partnering up on several project ideas. Flowers Grown in Scotland now has over 25 fully subscribed members and they are listed on our new website www.flowersgrowninscotland.co.uk for more information.

AGM / Open Day 23rd August

Flowers Grown in Scotland will be hosting an annual open day as well as an AGM for current members on Tuesday 23rd August at Tomnah'a Market Garden *. Please use the link to confirm your attendance so we can plan for refreshments.

The agenda for the day is as follows:

11am - 11:30am........AGM for current FGIS members

11:30am - 12pm........Welcome and FGIS round up
12pm - 1pm...............Lunch**
1pm - 2:30pm...........Tour of Tomnah'a led by Cristy Gilbert including questions
2:30pm - 3:30pm.....Tea & Cake and a Q&A
3:30pm....…………......Close

Topics of discussion include analysing the results from the census, re-visiting the challenges set out at the last meeting, social media takeovers and sticker ordering.

Parking and indoor toilets available. Please wear suitable footwear.

We will also be selling plants & plugs to raise funds for the group. These will all have plant passports.

*Lunch will be provided however there is also on-site catering facilities should you prefer

** This event is for all commercial Scottish cut flower growers and relevant industry/government bodies.

Royal Highland Show 2022

Flowers Grown in Scotland and Royal Highland Show

Flowers Grown in Scotland will be providing several installations and Scottish flowers at the Royal Highland Show this year. Teaming up with planners Rogue Village, Flowers Grown in Scotland will be providing a floral selfie installation in the food court for visitors to take snaps and share!

We will also be providing flowers for SAOS's pavilion which you can find ringside.

This is a team effort from all our members so please be sure to take some snaps if you spot us!
